(More customer reviews)The old proverb 'Charity begins at home' gets a very clear meaning in John Maxwell Taylor's book. Standard interpretation from habit is: we should love those in our home: parents, brothers, sisters, children, village, country, mankind etc...
John Maxwell's version is: to love, we need to be able, which in other words is what the book and the power is all about - to be.
To be connected to anything, be it a table, stone, tree, animal or a human being, we need first to get connected to ourselves, to the I am - the other connections will follow as the subtitle to the books also suggests: "Creating a New World of Enlightened Personal Interaction".
This is the message of the book and John Maxwell hammers (no connection to the Beatles song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer") it home in all the possible and impossible human situations that he has found in his own life. In other words the book is written out of personal experience and the writer knows what he is talking about. This he also makes clear to the reader and is fully justified in doing so!
For me this book is a forerunner - a pioneer work in putting spiritual work into practice in daily life in concrete and often acute situations. Sometimes this process is also called 'healing', becoming whole, and acting from the whole being, not just a tiny part.
