But if you plow on through, correcting the English on the way, you will get a good feel for Kerner's empirical approach to the description of traffic flow. Kerner is definitely grinding an axe or two, but this book appears to carry the description of freeway traffic a step beyond what Whitham did with his beautiful math for flow through a stoplight.
