(More customer reviews)A solid, professionally developed course that teaches a lot of piano in 28 lessons. Includes workshops to further develop main ideas. I've been playing piano for 20+ years (mostly by ear), so some of the beginning lessons were fairly basic and drawn out (although I could still glean something from them). The more advanced lessons focus on different music styles such as Jazz, Blues, etc, and these are very helpful. Learning the blues scale, for example, or how to form diminished chords, was very helpful to me. With someone who has covered the earlier lessons (or who has a good grasp of basic music theory), it should be fairly easy to take the principles he highlights in an advanced lesson and apply it to other keys, styles, etc. For me, this has been the most helpful aspect of the course--being able to expand my knowledge of various chords, styles, etc with some of the theory behind them, then incorporating that knowledge into my own style of music. Of course, since the course is on dvd a student can study the same lesson as long as necessary before moving on. I paid $150 for this on Ebay a year or so ago, and I feel it's a worthwhile investment. What would you pay for 28 piano lessons elsewhere? And Will Barrow definitely knows his stuff, both the theory and its practical application. The music director at my church just bought the piano and guitar versions, and at first glance he has been impressed with them. I haven't tried other piano courses, so I can't compare. Most seem to involve multi-level marketing schemes, so of course the reviews are glowing (and usually include a link to buy the product through the reviewer's web site). I don't know if Play and Master Piano has a similar deal, but if they do, I'm not part of it (I could use the cash, though). Over all, a solid, quality piano course at a fair price. I would love to see them come out with an advanced version!!!
