The most important things to know about this book are #1: It's tiny and thin, more like a booklet, and could fit inside a small envelope. #2: There are a total of 12 stickers inside the book, and nothing else. #3: The stickers are hand drawn/painted. #4: The book itself only retails for $1.50. I paid $3.49 in shipping and handling. If you're dying to own this book, pick it up at your local bookstore and save yourself some $$!

If you want a cook book to use for recipes, don't buy this one.
There are ingrediants and measures that you have never heard which
is totally useless. There are also strange dishes such as calf
brains that you would never use ........
I find the only bit of value for this book is some good old Louisville
nostalga.

Jennie C. Benedict's The Blue Ribbon Cook Book represents the very best in the tradition of southern regional cooking. Recipes for such classic dishes as Parker House rolls, lamb chops, corn pudding, Waldorf salad, and cheese and nut sandwiches are nestled among longtime local favorites such as apple butter, rice pudding, griddle cakes, and Benedictine, the cucumber sandwich spread bore Benedict's name. Throughout the cookbook, Benedict's delightful voice shines. Benedict, who was once the most famous caterer in Louisville and also operated a celebrated tea room and soda fountain, trained with Fannie Farmer at the Boston Cooking School. Five editions of Benedict's famous cookbook were published, and her aim in sharing her recipes was simple; as she mentions in the preface, "I have tried to give the young housekeeper just what she needs, and for more experienced ones, the best that can be had in the culinary art." As a creative entrepreneur, Benedict had a significant influence on the local culture and foodways. Her sweet and savory dishes were the stars of many Derby parties, and yet she placed equal emphasis on simple luncheon and dinner recipes to satisfy the needs of home cooks. While her popular dishes graced genteel tables all over the Bluegrass, Benedict's chicken salad sandwiches, sold from a pushcart, offered Louisville children the first school lunches in the city. This new edition of The Blue Ribbon Cook Book will now welcome new generations of readers and cooks -- those who remember wearing white gloves and eating delicate tea sandwiches at the downtown department store as well as those who want to make satisfying regional classics such as blackberry jam cake like their grandmother used to make. Food writer Susan Reigler introduces the story of Benedict's life and cuisine, and this edition is the first to come complete with the now-famous spread that bears Benedict's name.

I absolutely love Jungle Jam & Friends!!
One Christmas when we were younger, a bunch of these CD's were my parents' gift to my siblings and I. I'd say it was probably one of if not THE best Christmas present I've ever gotten. We started listening to them that night and were laughing together as a family for a long time. That was quite a while ago, and I'm now a sophomore in college. I listen to these ALL the time while I'm doing homework and sometimes my roommate will look at me funny because I will be cracking up at the stories. No matter how many times I listen to these, they never get old! I can listen to the same story twice in a row and still laugh at every joke. I am almost 20 and have four siblings; three who are in their teens and one who is 8, and we will still all hang out together listening to these and laughing together.
Conclusion: These CD's are a great investment and never get old! They have great morals, and are a ton of fun for the whole family!

Horror, SupernaturalGood versus Evil in Australia...
From the age which Darkness ruled, The Ancient Ones prophesied of a time when the last descendant of The Gods would arise. Now, in the town of Winmont, the Ancient Legion has awakened to finish what was started many millennia ago. The fate of humanity is in the hands of One, but can he overcome the forces that dare to challenge the bloodline of the Gods?
The Chosen is a difficult book to review. An easy read which moves quickly and is chock full of paranormal events, the book just doesn't live up to its potential. I checked out a number of other reviews, and while they were kind, they hinted at some of the problems I'm going to discuss.
Most of the story takes place inside the main character's head. It might seem to the reader that the author is using third person limited as his view point, but every once in awhile the narrator makes an obvious and clumsy statement which has the potential to catapult the reader out of the story. So, it becomes apparent that C. A. Milson is actually using third person omniscient. This brings me to my second concern: if Milson writes in the omniscient, why doesn't he use that distance to give us a clearer view of the world his hero (Alex) inhabits? Instead, he allows the story to unfold by telling us what Alex is feeling and experiencing, rather than showing us. This is a beginner's mistake, and Milson, the author of at least 25 short stories, should know better. And, finally, we have the grammatical mistakes. They occur way too often; he mixes tenses, forgets periods and even drops words.
It's a shame. Milson penned an interesting story in a unique voice.Copyright © 2009, Clayton Bye

From the time that the Darkness ruled the ancient tribes, The Elders prophesied of a time when a descendant of The Gods would arise. Tonight, in the town of Winmont, an Ancient Legion has been awoken to finish what they started many millennia ago. Now, the fate of humanity is in the hands of One, but can he overcome the forces that dare to challenge the bloodline of the Gods? Alex Manning is The One. Born of a heritage that was once a powerful civilization before it was destroyed by the Giants that once walked among men. Now tonight, in a small town, after thousands of years of being bound in the Dark Realm, the Ancient Darkness has been unleashed, and they set about to finish what was begun. Only Alex can stop the Dark Forces from destroying this town, but will he fulfil his own tests and sacrifice his life for those would seek to betray him?

121 Favorite Irish Session Tunes: Performed on Tinwhistle by L.E. McCullough (Homespun Tapes) Review

121 Favorite Irish Session Tunes: Performed on Tinwhistle by L.E. McCullough (Homespun Tapes)
Average Reviews:

This is a good tool for learning tunes, especially helpful for those who do not have an Irish uncle who can bring over his button box eery evening and teach you at your own pace. The addition of guitar accompaniment enhances this presentation over the prior book.
The tunes are played at a pace that the beginning player can absorb at one's own leisure. The inclusion of sheet music is helpful for those who need it, but sheet music reading is not required and you can also get "off paper" more quickly by putting your CD on "loop" and playing along.
A large number of tunes and commonly played ones, too. So if you ever decide to go out and play music with others at a sesiun, you will more likely know some that they are playing there.
A lot of folks like to play on their own at home in the evening, and this is a very nice "companion" that kind of personal enjoyment.
