One of the instructors on you tube recommended Dave's website and he had all of his books online to review. He even has short audio files to listen to before you make a decision to buy. I recommend all of his books. It is like having a music instructor. If you wants to know all of the ins and outs of reading music, learning rhythm, and all of the playing techniques these books are for you. Keep in mind that Dave has 3 levels, so you will need to buy all of his series to progress. Amazon did a great job, they shipped quicker than advertised, they got the order right, and I will buy from them in the future.

Classic Chicago Blues Harp #1 is the second level lesson book in the Harmonica Masterclass Lesson Series. This book starts with more songs, exercises, and rhythm training, then leads you through a variety of bending techniques. You'll also learn many other more advanced techniques used by professional players, such as shakes, glissandos, breaks, and the different types of throat vibrato. This book will help you learn to use all of these techniques within a musical context. At the end of each chapter, you'll find review questions to help you make sure that you understood the main points covered. The D harmonica is used for most of the material in this book, but harmonicas in keys of A and C are also used.

Basic Blues Harmonica Method is geared toward getting you playing blues harmonica as fast as possible. Offering a comprehensive study of harmonica techniques and blues soloing concepts, this book contains studies and etudes on bending notes (draw and blow), throat vibrato, two-hole shakes, tongue blocking, acoustic and amplified playing, music theory, blues scales, octave substitutions, playing positions, and position substitutes. Intended for the intermediate to advanced diatonic harmonica player, this book provides extensive instruction on lead and accompaniment playing styles. The companion CD includes musical example and play-along songs. Each exercise is played and every full length song is fully accompanied by a blues band. Each large example is played once with harmonica and again with accompaniment only. This book can be used with both diatonic and chromatic harmonica, but us more recommended for the diatonic player.

(More customer reviews)If you haven't had the chance to play togheter with other people this could give you a clue what it's like. You get a cd with comp that you can play along with and a musicbook with harmonica notation that shows how the songs are built and examples of how you can play. There are slow blues, faster blues, rock etc and they are played in different keys so you need moore than one harmonica if you should be able to play them all(except if you play the chromatic harmonica). Some of the playing examples where good but I learned most from playing togheter with the Cd where I learned how and when bluessongs changes keys within the song. This book/Cd showed me that you don't have to play many notes just to sound good - it even sounds good if you just play the keynotes togheter with Ralph Agresta and his band.
